Ashley and Wes are two of the sweetest humans alive. I know I say this about a lot of my clients, and well, I really mean it. I deal with some of the best people. But man, these two. They are not only both incredibly good looking, but they are so deeply kind and passionate, loving and tender hearted. I loved spending the day with them and watching their love unfold in front of me.
Ashley spent the morning getting ready at her parents house with her bridesmaids and parents and the guys got ready at Wes + Ashley's house just a few blocks away. Talk about an easy commute for me as their photographer.
The ceremony was held at a massive church in Aspen and the lighting was to die for. You never know what you are getting into when the ceremony is held indoors, but this venue was spectacular. The room was filled with friends and family, pretty much everyone tearing up by the end.
We did our shoot in Senator Patrick Gardens; a place which I have spoken of in a previous blog post. Having grown up just up the street from there I has always seen bridal parties walking up and down the gardens and when I started shooting professionally I promised myself I would never be so cliche as to use such a common spot. Oh boy was I wrong. And thank goodness for that. I honestly mean it when I say this location has some of the best lighting, locations, views and things to work with. Not to mention that early setting sun shining perfectly through the trees. I love this spot more than I can even tell you.
The bridal party was actually one of the best parts of this day. The guys were all ridiculous and sarcastic and the girls were game for anything. So of course we made Ashley run across 10th street in her wedding dress. Oh and did I mention that Santa Claus driving an SUV slowed down for us and honked his horn congratulations. Gotta love the magic of Christmas.
We took more pictures under the rainbow bridge, which until this day I didn't even know existed and I love it deeply. Go check it out!
After we were done taking pictures and one or two champagne related crisis' later we were off to the reception held at one of my very favorite venues, The Shawnessy Barn. This place is the best solely for how versatile it is. I have shot three different weddings at this location and each wedding so different and unique from the last.
Congratulations Ashley + Wes! I wish you guys all the best in the years ahead of you and feel so thankful to have been part of your day.
